Pushing gender and justice in the climate debate

Already featured in our list of women making waves in the climate debate, Byanyima is Executive Director of Oxfam International and a world authority on the gender dimension of climate change from years working with the UN. A Ugandan aeronautical engineer turned politician, she brings unusually broad and deep expertise to the climate debate. Byanyima led a mass walk out from civil society organisations at the Warsaw climate talks last year and recently acted as a spokesperson on Oxfam’s work unpicking the role of the food industry as emitters of greenhouse gases as well as working to highlight the role of UN debate over Sustainable Development Goals in tackling intersections of inequality and climate change.
